Maple Linux - A Canadian Linux Distro

I am not associated with this project at all but I thought it was pretty cool to find a Canadian Linux distro.

Maple Linux Website

Maple Linux is Canada’s only active Linux distribution which puts privacy, performance and ease of use first. Powered by Debian, this desktop is free (yes really ...

Reclaiming disk space when using WSL (Windows Subsystem For Linux)

If you use WSL you may have noticed that it can eat up a ton of disk space. In my case I use it for some regular backup jobs for remote systems and it tends to get very large. After searching for a bit I found that if you clean up the space in the WSL filesystem (you must do this first) and then run ...

Baofeng DM-32 / DM-32UV / UV-32

This seems to be a pretty decently moddable radio.

You can buy it just about anywhere you can buy other Baofeng radios.

It will do 1.25m and some claim it will do CB as well. I am not sure about that as I don't actually have one but if anyone does it please feel free to post your thoughts ...

Re: CATS - Communication And Telemetry System

Dell T620 For Proxmox

I finally got myself a decent server for my homelab set up. My friend gave me a Dual Xeon Dell T620 server a while ago. I ordered an 128GB of ram for it so with the 16GB that was in it there is now 144GB.

I've installed Proxmox VE and have been playing around with it. Currently it has two 600GB ...

Re: CATS - Communication And Telemetry System

I've now got a CATS I-Gate running at home with my APRS I-Gate on the same Raspberry PI and same antenna (using a duplexer). This works well because CATS is on UHF (430.500 MHz) and APRS is on VHF (144.360) so a cheap-ish duplexer (sometimes called diplexer) can be used. I got mine off Amazon (not ...
